About Healesville Sanctuary

Known as one of Australia’s most acclaimed wildlife sanctuaries, Healesville Sanctuary boasts of more than 200 species of Australian wildlife, offering an extraordinary spot to observe native animals in their natural territory.

Just an hour drive from Melbourne, the Sanctuary’s 30 hectares of bushland offers a particularly quaint Australian set-up. Aside from the usual birds of prey, guests can experience close-up encounters with some of Australia’s most unique and fascinating wildlife: from koalas, kangaroos, wombats, emus, dingoes, to platypuses.

 At a glance, this tour offers the following stops/itinerary: 

• First stop: the famous Healesville Sanctuary. Here, guests will be treated to a Birds of Prey Close Encounter, which provides a one-on-one encounter with a keeper and a bird of prey, all designed to give guests an unforgettable experience. Such an encounter will offer guests a one of a kind insight into the connection and special attachment between keeper and bird. An interesting feature of this sanctuary is an onsite wildlife animal hospital that is built for the general welfare of all wildlife in the area.
• Next stop: lunch at a local vineyard restaurant. Guests will be treated to a sumptuous sit down meal and a complimentary glass of win. Please note that the location of lunch may vary due to availability.
• Second stop: the Domain Chandon. This world-class wine tourism destination established in the Yarra Valley by French Champagne house Moët & Chandon in 1986 is dedicated to the production of traditional method sparkling wine and cool-climate still Victorian wines. Guests will be treated with a guided tour of this amazing location. The guided tour boasts of remarkable graphic displays and appealing panoramic story panels reflecting the company’s diverse experience in wine production. Apart from this, they will also taste some of the finest Chandon wines that are an unrivalled experience to world-class winery.
• A cheese tasting or vineyard tasting can also be squeezed in to the tour if there is still time left, providing for an even greater experience of the area.

A 2-course lunch, a glass of wine, tasting fees and charges, as well as service to and from Yarra Valley and Melbourne are included in this tour. Vehicles can accommodate up to 10 persons guaranteeing a lot of shoulder and leg room.
